‘One particular country objected’: MEA on why Rajnath refused to sign SCO statement

India declined to endorse the joint statement at the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting in Qingdao due to the omission of its terrorism concerns. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh insisted on acknowledging the Pahalgam attack, attributed to Lashkar-e-Taiba, while the statement referenced activities in Balochistan. Consensus eluded the member states, leading to the abandonment of the joint statement.
