Meta to pay $31.85m in privacy settlement with Australian regulator

Australia’s Information Commissioner dropped its lawsuit against Meta after a $31.85 million settlement. The case stemmed from the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where Facebook was accused of exposing user data via the “This Is Your Digital Life” quiz app. The original lawsuit, filed in 2020, alleged that Facebook improperly disclosed the personal information of Australian users.
