PAN 2.0: Rs 10K penalty for duplicate PAN card, how & why to check there is no duplicate

India’s government launched PAN 2.0, a free upgrade enhancing the existing PAN card system. This initiative aims to curb tax evasion and fraud by identifying duplicate PAN cards and incorrect information through dynamic QR codes. Holding multiple PANs is an offense punishable by a Rs 10,000 fine.
