Phia, the shopping app co-founded by Bill Gates’ daughter Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, is refunding brands after admitting it earned commissions on sales it never drove. An investigation found the extension opening a hidden tab at checkout and swapping in its own affiliate code. Impact.com has suspended Phia from its marketplace. The company calls it a bug; Edelman says the feature shipped in December 2025.
