Salesforce cuts 4,000 jobs: AI replace half of support staff; CEO flip-flops

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announced a significant reduction of 4,000 customer support positions, a 45% decrease, as AI agents now handle 50% of customer interactions. This shift contrasts with Benioff’s July statements, where he downplayed AI’s potential for mass unemployment. The company is also utilizing AI to address a backlog of over 100 million uncalled sales leads.
