US edtech company ‘blames’ Google, OpenAI for cutting 22% of jobs

US-based edtech firm Chegg is set to lay off 22% of its workforce, impacting around 248 employees, citing increased student reliance on AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews. Chegg also plans to close its US and Canada offices, aiming for substantial cost savings through restructuring.
