Amazon lays off employees in division that VP said remains ‘strategic priority’

Amazon has laid off at least 100 employees in its robotics division—the unit that designs and builds automation systems for its warehouse network. The cuts are the latest in a cost-cutting campaign that has eliminated more than 57,000 corporate roles since late 2022, following a pandemic-era hiring spree. The reductions come as Amazon shelves its Blue Jay warehouse robot after less than six months and pivots toward a new modular warehouse system called Orbital.
