Rotting roots of learning: Empty classrooms of Uttar Pradesh; a promise betrayed

Teacher absenteeism in Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a grave threat to the state’s education system, leaving rural classrooms deserted and students deprived of learning. The Allahabad High Court has strongly criticised the government for failing to implement an effective attendance mechanism, urging a “solid and practical” policy to ensure teachers’ presence and uphold poor children’s right to education.
