Armed with new sub, Pak mulls presence in Bay of Bengal for first time since 1971

Pakistan is signaling a sustained naval presence in the Bay of Bengal with its new, advanced submarine, PNS Hangor. This move, coupled with warming ties with Bangladesh, marks a significant shift in Pakistan’s maritime strategy. The technologically superior submarine, built in China, enhances Pakistan’s underwater capabilities, potentially altering the strategic balance in the eastern Indian Ocean after over five decades.
