Iran’s Khamenei buried in Mashhad four months after US-Israeli strikes killed him

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried in Mashhad after a week of ceremonies. He ruled Iran for nearly thirty-seven years and died in recent airstrikes. Large crowds gathered for funeral processions which brought daily life to a standstill. His eldest son led prayers, but his successor was notably absent from the burial. This burial occurred amid renewed hostilities and recent strikes between the US and Iran.
